Two courses, two purposes

It is one of the questions we hear most: what exactly is the difference between first aid and in-house emergency response, and which course do you need? At first glance they look alike, but the emphasis lies somewhere quite different.

The first aider

A first aider specialises in first aid at accidents. They learn more about the human body and master more life-saving procedures, for example moving a casualty over a short distance. The depth in first aid is greater.

The in-house emergency responder

An in-house emergency responder can also give first aid, but has two extra tasks: evacuating a building and fighting an incipient fire. In-house emergency response is anchored in Dutch working conditions law: every employer must have it arranged.

In a nutshell

First aid: more depth in first aid, no evacuation and no fire fighting.
Emergency response: first aid plus evacuation and incipient fire, legally required for employers.
At an event we deploy event medics, who are trained specifically for public events.

Which course do you need

If you have staff in a building, in-house emergency response is the starting point. If you want to become stronger in first aid as a volunteer or employee, first aid makes more sense. For childcare and schools there is a separate emergency response module, which meets both the working conditions law and the childcare act in one go.

At our location or at yours

We run both courses, in a classroom, in a small group or as a private lesson, and at your office or school if you prefer. You can also come to us for refresher courses.
